About “Music without limits”

MBS-logotipas-su-TXT1The Lithuanian Music Society of 21st Century Music and Education has been founded in 2000. This Society started organizing The International competition-festival “Music Without Limits” for pianists, harpsichordists, jazz soloists, chamber and piano ensembles and piano concertos with chamber orchestra in Druskininkai, M.K.Čiurlionis School of Arts. This is a long-standing event, every year presenting itself in new forms, resulting in a great resonance in Lithuania and other countries around the world. From 2014 There is an opportunity to participate for the other musicians with other instruments — string, wind instruments, folk instruments and also vocalists. From 2015 An amateur category has been created, which may also feature performers of all possible instruments, vocalists, pianists with a chamber orchestra, ensembles, and others. By including this category in the competition, we want to give the opportunity to appear on the stage not only for professionals, but also for amateur musicians. The project is significant because it creates a system for the development of artists, the arts and pedagogy community and the intercultural exchange system. It helps to uncover the unique personality of a young person, to discover and encourage them to further creative growth, to stimulate young people’s motivation to deepen their abilities and knowledge. The competition is open to musicians of all nationalities and age. The age of the participants is unlimited! Every year over 100 participants from the Baltic States, Scandinavia, USA, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Japan, Germany, Poland, Belarus, China and more come to our competition-festival. The best performers are organizing concerts in the concert halls of Lithuania, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Russia, Poland, Georgia, Spain, Portugal.

Famous artists from the Baltic, Scandinavia, USA, and other countries work at the International Jury. They also organize concerts for the public of Druskininkai, give master classes, share the latest, most advanced methodology, read presentations at the scientific-methodical conference, analyze psychology, physiology, teach improvisations, interpretations of art in seminars.

Concert-educational activities are being carried out in cities and towns of Lithuania, and Lithuania is presented as a country of high musical culture. Famous artists from Druskininkai also collaborate with the competition-festival: artist Adalbertas Nedzelskis, pianist Guoda Gedvilaitė, also we had a collaboration with a painter Alfonsas Šuliauskas until 2017. Joint projects with the Lithuanian Composers’ Union are being carried out – contemporary music of Lithuanian and neighboring countries is being promoted. Also we have a collaboration with disabled people.

The competition-festival has received high reviews from the Lithuanian and foreign press, and excellent written contributions from the participants.

In 2014 Alink-Argerich Foundation Director Dr. Gustav A. Alink and his wife Akemi, who have greatly appreciated the artistic and organizational level of the competition-festival “Music Without Limits”, noted this on their fund’s website. Also included a contest into a prestigious publication – the catalog of the world’s best contests and festivals.
From 2022 the event is named after the International Music Competition and Festival Music without limits.
